Subject: NetWare 286 Server Boots with Address Conflicts
Date: December 20, 1990

PROBLEM: A customer was getting a "Signature not found" error running
an SMC PS110 in an IBM PS/2 Model 80 under NetWare 286
v2.15. We determined they had a conflict with the VGA
memory address and had them choose another option. The file
server then came up and we loaded monitor and everything
seemed fine until we tried logging in from an IBM PS/2 Model
25 workstation. We kept getting "File server not found"
errors and suspected conflicts with the SMC 130e at the
workstation.
SOLUTION: After fruitless time spent trying to resolve the issue, we
had them go back to the file server and type "CONFIG" and
compare the information with what the IBM Reference was
saying. Surprisingly, the OS was configured for IRQ 2 and
reference was indicating the card at IRQ 3. We then made
the appropriate change to the OS and all was well.
This has been reported to Engineering.
